The burgeoning world of neuroscientific research has confirmed how intimately our health is connected to our state of mind. Dr Hepburn shares what is left of his mind in helping us to find 100 ways to live to be 100. Wouldn't it be great if we all died young, at an old age.
In this fast paced impersonal world where people can be diagnosed, treated and cured with computers, MRI's and bioengineering, it is important to not let go of two of the most important of the human touches: humour and compassion. Dr Hepburn has been told that he has that touch or possibly that he is just touched!
“I truly appreciate the time you invested and your willingness to share your brilliant sense of humor and fascinating experiences. . . Your presentation ‘Humor in Medicine’ inspired your listeners to question the assumption that physicians should always present themselves to patients as very serious people. The benefits of approaching patient care with a sense of humor became obvious during your talk. You are an excellent role model to your colleagues – a physician who is both highly competent and very funny.”
- Lisa Roberts, Janssen Ortho Inc
“His wonderful sense of humour got the attention of the entire audience... He was spontaneous and quick witted. He brings humour to his workplace and brought it to our Congress. . .The general consensus was that he was the best.”
- Ruth Taylor, B.C. Society of Medical Laboratory Science
"Dr. Dave kicked off our February 2006 Business Meetings, tailoring his humourous and informative presentation to our company's needs. His presentation was full of riveting wit and comedy, but he also provided significant insight into how we can better relate to our customers in the medical profession. He got us thinking about whether we "Did any good today" and then taught us that in the everyday aspect of our jobs, we can indeed do exactly that. We were poignantly reminded of why what we do is so vitally important in the medical world.
Dr. Hepburn was enormously entertaining and motivating - a great way to set the tone for our meetings, which subsequently turned out to be one of our best conferences ever."
Mark A. Vukobrat, GlaxoSmithKline Inc.
