LINDSAY ALCOCK
|
![]() |
For ten years Lindsay Alcock hurtled herself down icy tracks at 130 km/h on her stomach, head first with a steel sled holding her inches off the ice. Her sport is called Skeleton and it was reintroduced at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lindsay started the sport in 1998 and in 2004 she became the overall World Cup Champion and silver medalist at the prestigious World Skeleton Championships. She accumulated six World Cup Gold medals and several international push and track records throughout her sport career. Lindsay finished a strong 6th place in the 2002 Olympics and 10th place in the 2006 Olympics.
From competitive sport, Lindsay has learned valuable life lessons that can be related to the business world to help employees reach their peak performance. Her honest perspective on how to achieve success in elite sport and in life has touched and inspired many individuals within the Calgary corporate community (oil companies, brokerage houses and banking institutions). Her enthusiastic and heartfelt speeches have been well received and she is often highly recommended for guest speaker requests at team building seminars, company retreats, banquets, and community events.
Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary and she is now studying for her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer Chiropractic College West in San Jose, California.
“Lindsay was a true inspiration. She was down to earth and had an energy about her which we all took to immediately especially as we had kept her a surprise until the last minute. She covered all the points that we had asked for including a healthy life balance between work and home, thinking outside the box and trying new things that you normally would not. Her passion for the skeleton certainly came through so enthusiastically and she had plenty of fun stories to share with us, it was also great fun watching the DVD clips she had brought with her. She really shone at our conference and the feedback from staff was that she was definitely a highlight. People were drawn to her afterwards and she really enjoyed meeting with people and having a chat with them which was very much appreciated. I felt that she focused very much on us at the conference and our needs.”
