Using compelling personal stories, Robert Danzig centers his talk around a key concept he calls ‘threads of life.’ In his own words...” threads of life are the people who crossed my path and gave me their gifts... and in giving me their gifts, I was able to grasp the threads that they were offering and weave these, over time (unconsciously & unwittingly), into a tapestry that became part of the story of my life and career.”

Robert J. Danzig is a highly successful corporate executive. He is an author. He is also one of the nation’s most spellbinding motivational speakers.

His business career has spanned 46 years with The Hearst Corporation from office boy to the ranking senior executive of one of the country’s leading newspaper companies, with 6,000 employees across the nation, in cities like Houston, San Francisco, Seattle and San Antonio.

Nineteen years after walking in the door of Hearst’s Capital Newspapers as an office boy, he was named publisher of the Ties Union and Knickerbocker News in Albany, New York. Two years later, he became the youngest person to lead the New York State Publishers Association. A civic leader, he served on the boards of directors of Albany Medical College, Siena College, Russell Sage College, St. Peter’s Hospital, the Albany Institute of History and Art, Caldwell College and the executive committee of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

During his term as head of the Hearst Newspapers, the group has had a renaissance of talent, technology and reputation. On his watch, annual sales have many times exceeded industry averages and the company’s cash flow has grown a hundredfold.

He has had a number of leadership roles in the Newspaper Association of America, Newspaper Advertising Bureau, New Directions for News, and the American Press Institute. He has earned an industry-wide reputation for his innovative marketing leadership.

Following his U.S. Navy service, he attended Siena College, graduating with high honors. He received the college’s award for outstanding career achievement and received an honorary doctorate from Siena.

He was awarded one of 12 professional journalism fellowships at Stanford University, the only business executive ever to be accepted in this program. He now serves on its board.

Bob and his wife, Patricia Brady Danzig, a classically trained lyric soprano, live in New Jersey. They have five children and two grandchildren.
